You may still be owed $1,000.
The 30C federal tax credit can be claimed on past returns — even if you already filed. Most homeowners who install a charger never know this credit exists.

People who almost missed this.
“I thought I wasn't eligible because I live in a suburb. EV Charge Credit found a micro-pocket in my census tract that qualified me for $850. Best 30 seconds I spent all year.”
“The process was so simple. They even provided the exact numbers my accountant needed to file Form 8911.”
“Radically different from other energy sites. No spam, just real data and real savings. Got $620 back on a return I thought was already closed.”
Common questions
Stuff people actually ask
Wait, do I actually qualify for this?
Probably yes — if you own your home and installed (or plan to install) a Level 2 EV charger. About 40% of U.S. addresses qualify under the 30C census tract rules. The fastest way to know is to enter your address — it takes about 10 seconds.
Is this a real thing, or some obscure loophole?
Completely legitimate. The 30C Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit is written into the Inflation Reduction Act. It covers 30% of your charger and installation cost, up to $1,000. Your CPA will recognize it immediately — it goes on IRS Form 8911.
My electrician never mentioned this. Why not?
Most electricians aren't tax advisors. The credit also changed significantly in 2023 when the IRA updated the eligibility rules, so even well-intentioned older advice may be outdated. That's exactly why we built this.
I already installed my charger. Did I miss my chance?
Not necessarily. You can claim the 30C credit retroactively by amending your prior-year return. We have a specific tool for this — check the "Already installed?" link above. The 3-year amendment window is still open for 2022–2024 installs.
How much work is it to actually claim this?
Very little. If you use TurboTax or FreeTaxUSA, it's a few clicks. If you use a CPA, just tell them your address qualified under 30C and your total project cost — they handle the rest in minutes.
